Tim Lincoln

Lancing Brass is very sad to report on the loss of one of its longest-serving members, Tim Lincoln, who passed away recently. Tim had been with the band for 40 years; he was our Chairman and our B-flat bass player, and he also served two stints as Musical Director. Tim was a superb musician and had a very interesting life; he joined the Royal Marines when he left school aged 14, then served with the Police for 27 years, mainly on traffic. After retiring in 2000 he went back to the police as a civilian, teaching at the police driving school for another 6 years. In recent years he worked with the Institute of Advanced Motorists and as a volunteer driver with Guild Care. Tim was the heart and soul of Lancing Brass, he was a true gent and he will leave a big hole in the lives of many people. Our thoughts are with his wife Margaret, their sons Phil and Peter, and the rest of the family.
